Kangaroo Mother Care

Throughout the world over 4,000,000 babies die within the first 4 weeks of life. Of this number, 99% occur in low-middle income countries. Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC) is an incredibly simple concept that can greatly reduce this death rate, yet is rarely utilized throughout those countries that need it most due to lack of education and facilities that promote KMC.

KMC is care of the premature newborn carried skin to skin with the mother. It is a powerful, easy-to-use method to promote the health and wellbeing of these infants being born preterm, as well as those born full term.
